“Learn to light a candle in the darkest moments of someone’s life. Be the light that helps others see; it is what gives life its deepest significance.” – Roy T. Bennet

The Dawn

i am running off the pages

ink spilling off the edge

the farthest reach of my existence

a few more turns until the end

you’ve yet to open all my secrets

thoughts on people i have met

and no one’s read beyond my preface

or even tried to understand

for this is the story of sleepless nights

and words poured out from the inside

of wishful thinking and wounded eyes

a mind controlled by the darkest lies

i am running out of reasons

to hide away until my death

bloodstained and carried through the seasons

no longer can i pretend

for this is the story of sleepless nights

and words poured out from the inside

of wishful thinking and wounded eyes

a mind controlled by the darkest lies

yes, this is the story of sleepless nights

and words poured out from the inside

but i confess that i was wrong, i was wrong

the night is spent, this is the dawn

this is the dawn
